For the alpha: I guess by "placed on the Internet on the August 1st, 2008" you're talking about the copy on RR2000? Actually the file is way older it just wasn't on the net for a long long time. Also you should have read the readme that came with it! It says that ChevyII modified it already and this explains why the gravity is so high in comparison to the demo or the final game. ChevyII probably modified a lot of other things like the fact that the player runs Hellrod instead of the Eagle. He probably did more modifications.
However you forgot the main difference with the pre-final builds: there's still no lighting/shading! Notice also that the sky isn't filtered (it might be unfiltered in the demo as well). Also the alpha only offered the D3D executable.
As for the patch, the US 1.2 and V2 patches are the same generation (internal version is v1.02a), you can read my topic at devWAM about that. V1.1 is the same as the "XP-Vista" patch.
At an early stage of development, there was also a build of C2 using TCP/IP instead of IPX protocol for netgames.
