I translated some of the Carmageddon games to Portuguese (pt_PT)! I did it all by myself, and if you want the files, just click on the link on the bottom of this page. That file contains some instructions on how to "install" the files, but those are in Portuguese, so I'll put them in English here.

An example of Carmageddon II in Portuguese. Note that, due to some limitations, Shawnee Smitt (a female) is considered "destruido" ("wasted"), which is the male variant of the adjective.

If you wanna add this pack to your bookmarks or something, I recommend that you add this (or the Portuguese) article, and not the download page. When I upload a new version of the pack, I delete the previous one. The Portuguese page will always contain the link to the most updated version.

Games[edit]

This is the status of each game's translation.

  • Carmageddon + Splat Pack: Done, but the text in images still hasn't been translated. Audio isn't translated.
  • Carmageddon II: Done. There are some words that aren't in the files, but in the executable itself. It's trickier to change those, and seeing as there are so few of them, it's not worth it. Audio isn't translated.
  • Carmageddon TDR 2000: Done. I haven't tested much, so there might be a few mistakes. Audio isn't translated.
  • Carmageddon Nosebleed Pack: Nothing so far.
  • Carmageddon 64: Untranslatable, as far as I know. The strings must be encrypted.
  • Carmageddon (PlayStation): Nothing so far.
  • Carmageddon (Gameboy color): Done. Normal strings were translated, but the bars that appear on the bottom of the screen saying "Head on bonus", "Pause" and "A+B to quit" were also translated.
  • Carmageddon: Reincarnation: It hasn't been released yet, but I will translate it!

GENERAL NOTES
=======================================
-Translations made by André Luís Gomes da Silva ([SRB2]Espyo). The Carmageddon franchise belongs to Stainless.
-These translations are made for the vanilla versions of the game, not for unofficial extensions/mods. Even still, there are several versions of the games, so if your translation isn't working, send me an e-mail.
-These translations translate the games into Portuguese from Portugal, not from Brazil.
-These translations treat the player as "you", in the informal sense of the Portuguese word.
-Some words deviate a bit from the original game so that the pun can be kept, or to fix any errors in the original strings.
-Any problem or suggestion, my e-mail is andreluis.g.silva@gmail.com

=======================================
CARMAGEDDON
=======================================
NOTES: This translation is incompatible with the Splat Pack. There are also a lot of strings in image format, not text. I can't do anything about that for now.

To "install" the translated Portuguese (PT-PT) version of Carmageddon, follow these steps:
1) The files should be unencrypted. It's easy to check. Go to the DATA folder and open, for instance, TEXT.TXT. If you see a lot of incomprehensible junk, it's because they're encrypted. If you see normal text, around 3 words per line, you can skip to step 3.
2) If the files are encrypted, enter the game, and on the car/race choice menu type "IWANTTOFIDDLE". If the cheat code was written correctly, you'll hear the sound of a skid. Otherwise, try again. When you're done, the files will be unencrypted. To be sure, repeat step 1.
3) With the files unencrypted, open your Carma folder which is in the same folder as this help file.
4) Select all files and copy them.
5) Go to the DATA folder on your Carmageddon directory and paste them there.
6) Replace all files.
7) Play!

If you want to return to the original version of Carmageddon, select all files from the Original_C1 folder and paste them on your Carmageddon's DATA folder, with the files unencrypted (read above). Confirm the file replacement operation and your Carma should be normal again.

Change log:
-Version 1.1: Corrected a microscopic mistake.
-Version 1.0: First version released on the Internet.

=======================================
CARMAGEDDON SPLAT PACK
=======================================
NOTE: This translation is incompatible with normal Carmageddon. There are also a lot of strings in image format, not text. I can't do anything about that for now.

To "install" the translated Portuguese (PT-PT) version of Carmageddon Splat Pack, follow the same steps as the ones for normal Carmageddon, but the Portuguese files are in the CarmaSP folder, the original files in the Original_CSP folder, and you have to place them on your Carmageddon Splat Pack folder.

Change log:
-Version 1.0: First version released on the Internet.

=======================================
CARMAGEDDON II
=======================================
NOTE: This translation is incompatible with Carmageddon 2 Advanced or version 1.02A.

To "install" the translated Portuguese (PT-PT) version of Carmageddon II, follow these steps:
1) Extract Carstockalypse, place it on your Carmageddon II's folder and run it. It'll extract the DATA.TWT file and place its contents inside the DATA folder. This is necessary. Other than that, Carstockalypse is used to add custom cars. This isn't necessary for the translation. Carstockalypse can be found in the same folder as this help file with the name carstock.zip.
2) Open the Carma2 folder that's in the same folder as this help file.
3) Select all files and copy them.
4) Go to the DATA folder in your Carmageddon II folder and paste them there.
5) Replace all files.
6) Play!

If you want to return to the original version of Carmageddon II, select all files from the Original_C2 folder and paste them on your Carmageddon II's DATA folder, with the files unencrypted (read above). Confirm the file replacement operation and your Carma2 should be normal again.

Change log:
-Version 3.0 (10 Mar 2012):
	-Changed "mas que morte!" to "mas que vôo!", seeing as "punt" means something like "kick".
	-Shortened the name of the peds with stupid heads powerup from "pedestres com cabecas estupidas!" to "pedestres c/ cabecas estupidas!", as it was crashing the game.
-Version 2.3 (27 Mar 2011):
	-Changed "hospedeiro" to "servidor". It doesn't matter, because you can't play online but... "hospedeiro"? What was I thinking?
-Version 2.2 (17 Set 2010):
	-Corrected a minor, humiliating mistake that existed since version one: "Abir" instead of "Abrir".
	-Improved sentences on almost all files, so they would be more faithful to the English version.
-Version 2.1 (24 Jan 2010):
	-Corrected some mistakes in TEXT.TXT.
	-Minimal changes in OPPONENT.TXT, STATUS.TXT and RACES.TXT.
-Version 2.0 (27 Nov 2009):
	-Delete files that replaced the player's control data and other unnecessary files.
	-Improved the text overall.
-Version 1.0: First version released on the Internet.

=======================================
CARMAGEDDON TDR 2000
=======================================
NOTE: This translation is incompatible with Carmageddon TDR 2000 Nosebleed Pack.

To "install" the translated Portuguese (PT-PT) version of Carmageddon TDR 2000, follow these steps:

1) Open the CarmaTDR folder that is in the same folder as this help file.
2) Select all files and copy them.
3) Go to the Assets\Strings\UK folder in your Carmageddon TDR 2000 folder and paste the files there.
4) Replace all files.
5) Play!

If you want to return to the original version of Carmageddon TDR 2000, select all files in the Original_CTDR folder and paste them on the Assets\Strings\UK folder on your Carmageddon TDR 2000 folder. Confirm the file replacement operation and your CarmaTDR should be normal again.

Change log:
-Version 1.0: First version released on the Internet. Might have some flaws.

=======================================
CARMAGEDDON (GAMEBOY COLOR)
=======================================
I translated the Carmageddon GBC ROM. To play it, use it in a Gameboy Color emulator. The ROM is in the CarmaGBC folder. Select the English language.

Change log:
-Version 1.0: First version released on the Internet.
